The Kickoff Lunch and Bike Ride was a great success! Many people attended and rode their bicycles, excepting yours truly, who was busy figuring out how disc brakes tick. I was so busy, in fact, that I didn’t even manage to get any pictures. Oh, well, there are enough of them over at the Bike To Work Nanaimo Facebook page.
I made up for it by actually making it to the venue at Code Brew, adjacent from the hospital, on a Dahon mini folding bike – with 12 inch wheels – towing a big two-seater trailer filled with bike tuneup stuff.
Code Brew sets a good table. They catered the event with sandwiches, wraps, cut fruit and their own Razzle Dazzle drink, a mixture of tea, juice and some other amazing substance. Cob’s Bread was there as well.
We had our friends, the GNCC and Pedego Bikes, there with us. I also was able to head up to Arrowsmith Bikes, Rock City Cycles, Pacific Rim Cycle, and the newest bike shop to grace Nanaimo, Coal City Cycles, beside Frontrunners on Bowen. They all seemed really enthusiastic about BTWW Nanaimo!
The only hiccup is that I somehow got interviewed about tuning up bicycles after they’ve been sitting for the winter.
And a good time was had by all!
