Bike Summit 2016 was a great event! We had a table staffed by Julie and Allen, lots of brochures (including the one for the Park Tool School courses and the latest Parks & Trails brochure)

One thing Julie really enjoyed about this event were the mini films on various topics, interspersed with speakers from the City of Nanaimo’s Engineering Department, Nanaimo Regional Rail Trail Partnership, BC Cycling Coalition, E-bikes by Pedego, and the Nanaimo Mountain Bike Club. There were some beautiful display bikes brought by E-bikes by Pedego and Rock City Cycles.
The importance of creating safe spaces for cyclists – and by extension other non-motorized-vehicle modes of transportation – is something we were happy to see emphasized at the Summit. Dedicated bike lanes and space at intersections is an important part of safe cycling infrastructure. Hopefully, Nanaimo will support further expansion of bike trails and lanes that enable cyclists to travel safely within the city.
