Hub City Cycles is looking to diversify our co-op team with a new position. We have been referring to this position as the ‘front-line’. While perhaps on the surface this person may seem like the cashier they will do many important things at HCC. From greeting customers, helping facilitate our fleet of rental bikes, running the cash, writing for our newsletter and blog, and helping to keep our shop organized.
As an employee with our co-op, you will be part owner and have a great opportunity to explore different ways to contribute to, and build this young organization into something even better. We need someone who is willing to commit to helping us grow in the long term.
We strive to be a resource that nourishes the neighborhoods in and around downtown Nanaimo. We provide affordable bicycle-centric services and advocacy that build, empower and support healthy and sustainable communities. We offer a safe and welcoming space for people to learn, share skills and network with other community members.
Starting wage is $12.00 during a probationary period and then the wage for worker members is currently $13.00 an hour, plus extended health benefits access to space to work on your bike.

~What you will do:
-greeting customers
-opening and closing the shop
-operating cash
-answering phone & emails
-restocking merchandise
-receiving parts
-running our rental fleet
-marketing via our online presence (craigslist, facebook, twitter, etc.)
-writing newsletter and website content
-assisting customers to find what they are looking for
-helping with shop organization and cleanliness
~What you will bring:
-have a fairly good understanding of bikes, not necessarily mechanical skills
-be a fantastic communicator
-be reliable, responsible, committed and driven.
-be incredibly organized. There is a lot going on in the shop every day we need someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, can multitask & prioritize, follow through thoroughly with tasks with little supervision, and has a high standard of quality in all that they do.
-Be patient, honest and compassionate.
-Be passionate about bikes
~Bonus Points if:
-biking touring is favorite form of travel
-knowledge of parts
