About 3 years ago the BC government instituted the HST after specifically stating in their election campaign that they would not do so. After a referenundum the people of BC voted to abolish the HST and return to the PST/GST system. As a result, the additional tax that was added to many items due to HST, such as bikes, helmets and accessories (when purchased with a bike), as of April 1st, now are not subject to PST and cost 7% less!
