This spring/summer, Hub City Cycles is partnering with the City of Nanaimo to offer some riding courses and mechanics classes! Here’s some of the descriptions!
Weekend Rider Safety Course
Become a confident bicycle commuter! Learn bike control, rider safety, road rules and regulations, bike mechanics and more in this two day course. The second day will include a group ride.
Recommended to bring a snack or lunch and water. All participants must have a fitting bike helmet & functioning bicycle.
Participants should feel comfortable riding, stopping and turning.

Time/Dates:
We have two course dates available. Either the weekend of May 4/5th, or the weekend of May 25/26th. Both run from 10:00am – 2:30pm each day, for a total of ten hours.
Course cost: $65

Do-It-Yourself Bicycle Tune-up for Beginners
Ever wanted to know how to fix your own bike? Feel intimidated by all the cables and bolts? This course is for anyone and everyone who wishes to feel more confident on their bike by learning how to quickly assess problems on the road, and fix them!
Time/Dates:
We have two course dates available. April 27th, or June 1st. Course runs from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
Course Cost: $30
Location: Harewood Activity Centre (195 Fourth St)
Bicycle Kid’s Camp
Learn how to commute safely on your bike through a week of bike games, skill drills, bike rodeos and by having FUN! Explore the surrounding neighbourhoods during organized bike trips, leadership opportunities, and by having FUN!
Recommended to bring a snack/lunch and water. All participants must have a certified biking helmet, full functioning bike, be able to ride a two wheel bike up and down hills and know how to stop.
Times/Dates:
We have two courses happening this summer, one from Aug. 12 – 16, another on July 15 – 19.
Courses run from 9:00AM – 2:00PM each of the 5 days.
Course Cost: $145
